Picnic Places In Kampala

There is not a lot of green space in the hectic city to relax and connect with friends and family. Here are a few of our favorite hidden gems that make great picnic places in Kampala:

  • Jubilee Park: Also known as the Sheraton Gardens, this park is located at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala. You can enjoy the well-kept, peaceful outdoor space with family and friends in the middle of the city. The park is free and open to the public (despite being on the hotel property). Call ahead to make sure that the gardens haven’t been reserved for an event before planning your picnic (0312 322 499).
  • Kamwokya Children’s Park: This park is behind Café Javas at City Oil (near Acacia Mall). The park is well maintained, has paved walking paths, lights, and a small shelter. Although it is fenced off behind these big businesses, this park is also free and open to the public. It can be tricky to find the entrance (through Café Java’s parking), so ask the security guard at City Oil to show you the route to the gardens.
  • Bahai Temple: The Bahai Temple is one of the most serene spots in Kampala. Sitting on an expansive manicured lawn on Kikaya Hill, this is a great option for those looking for a picnic place in Kampala. Because it is a religious site, you will have to be respectful of your picnic proximity to the temple and any services happening.
